Alimony
A parent has the obligation to maintain his/her minor child and to take care that the child would receive the alimony required for growing and development.
Maintenance is also justified for a child who is an adult but still continues to acquire basic or secondary education in basic school, high school, or vocational educational institution until becoming 21 years old.
A parent who does not live with the child or does not participate in raising the child has the obligation to provide the child maintenance by paying the alimony.
Monthly alimony to one child cannot be less than half of the minimum wage established by the government. In 2016, the alimony for one child is EUR 215 per month.
If a parent does not perform the maintenance obligation, a payment order expedited procedure application in child’s maintenance claim or a maintenance lawsuit can be submitted.
